Project
Description
: In
memory
of the
late
Hubert
Humphrey
, the
artist
created
a
small
park
which
integrates
pathways
,
seating
,
trees
, and a
speaker's
podium
.
Quotes
from
Humphrey
are
inscribed
in the
low
walls
and
across
the
backs
of
wooden
benches
. This
geometrically-shaped
plaza
is
a
sanctuary
to
memorialize
Hubert
Humphrey
. The
artist
created
a
small
plaza
from
stone
,
aggregrate
,
grass
and
trees
.
Inscriptions
from
Humphrey's
own
words
are
visible
in the
walls
and
wooden
benches
. The
artist
felt
it
was
more
important
to
memorialize
Humphrey's
deeds
and
thoughts
than to
create
a
physical
likeness
of him. The
plaza
succeeds
as a
simple
,
understated
memorial
to the
late
Minnesota
senator
.
