Description
:
Fleischner
worked
with
landscape
architect
Charles
Rapp
to
create
an
environmental
artwork
comprised
of
nearly
1,800
square
feet
of
cut
Mexican
stone
.
Geometric
benches
and
pathways
offer
the
visitor
spaces
for
small
group
gatherings
or
solitary
moments
of
reflection
. The
sculpture's
design
incorporates
three
geometric
shapes
--
a
circle
, a
square
, and
triangle
--
into a
pattern
which
overlaps
to
give
the
illusion
of
being
interwoven
. There are
23
cubes
of
stone
integrated
within
the
sculpture's
space
.
Ten
of these
cubes
are
constructed
together
to
form
a
bench
. The
other
cubes
are
interspersed
in the
area
as
small
seating
clusters
. The
stone
is
hand-chiseled
and
quarried
in
Mexico
, and the
colors
are
rosa
,
blanco
and
negro
[pink
,
white
and
black]
.
Landscaping
within
the
sculpture
includes
six
queen
palms
and
patches
of
prickly
pear
cactus
.
