Mexican city in the state and valley of the same name. It is situated on the south-western slope of La Malinche volcano, 2162 m above sea-level, and it lies at the foot of the Loreto and Guadalupe hills by the River Atoyac. It has a population of ca. 1 million. Pueblas colonial architecture is among the most magnificent in Mexico. It is especially noted for the Poblano style, which includes colorful tilework.
