Notes	Built 1984. Project Description: This 17-story building is one of Helmut Jahn's most ambitious undertakings. The round tilted roof, sloping back, and blue tinted glass of this structure suggest a highly futuristic concept. The atrium in this building is one of the most spectacular of its kind. This ultra-modern glass and steel structure — with its square back, curving facade, and soaring 160-foot diameter atrium/rotunda — occupies a full city block in downtown Chicago. Inside the building, a 15-story, glass-capped atrium is surrounded by open offices, state agencies and commercial areas. The use of color and marble in the rotunda lobby creates a dramatic effect for the building. A marble rosette pattern embedded in the granite floor marks the center from which the rest of the building radiates. Two towering glass elevator shafts punctuate the circular pattern with strong vertical contrast. Size: 17 stories
