Built 1983. Project Description: With this building, architect William Burd decided to concentrate on two major design elements: the traditional red color and the strong round form of the fire pole. The pole is placed in a transparent cylinder on the front of the building, making it a focal point. This curved form is repeated elsewhere throughout the building. The curved sections are accentuated by a red glazed brick that contrasts in color and texture with the gray concrete split-block walls. A large number 3 , on an interior red wall beside the prominent fire pole, identifies the building's name and function. Project cost: $340,000. Project Location: Gladstone Avenue in East Columbus, Columbus, IN. Size: 5,920 sq. ft.
