Notes	Built 1987. Project Description: This building is a rich response to its environment. The horizontal massing, details, and pink, purple and violet colors match the surrounding mountains and the vegetation of the desert. The landscape architects of Ellerbe Becket created landscaping as an extension of the desert, so the building appears to rise from the desert floor. The 140-acre site will eventually contain a cluster of three triangular buildings surrounding a circular entry. Stone masonry walls are of pink dolomite with green slate at the base. Project History: Because of design constraints on building height and community concern about protecting this unique environment, the architects designed this building with the desert environment as a starting point for their ideas. Nemeth made many tours of the site before completing his final plans for this building. Project Location: 13400 E. Shea, Scottsdale, AZ. Size: 3.3 million sq. ft.
