Notes	Built 1977. Project Description: The Sage Science Center houses laboratories, a library, classrooms, lecture halls, and faculty and administrative offices for eleven disciplines. It was the recipient of the 1987 Harleston Parker Medal for Design Excellence, awarded by the City of Boston for ‘the most beautiful building built in the Greater Boston area in the last ten years.’ Project cost: $11.3 million. The center is characterized by its flexibility, and by a unique ‘system’ approach applied to all elements of construction — from the structural and mechanical aspects of the building to the architect-designed laboratory furniture system. Project History: This two-phase project consists of a 240,000-square-foot building, completed in 1977, and a 40,000-square-foot addition to be completed in 1991, both designed by Charles F. Rogers II for Wellesley College. Project Location: Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. Size: 240,000 sq. ft.
