Description	The exhibition handbook suggests that the pavilion expresses the Danish landscape, where sailing boats break the skyline between many low-lying islands. 32m high sails of glass-reinforced plastic were joined to a slender 24m high tower as if to a mast. The design is a casebook study of how a richly satisfying structure can be achieved by subtle variations on a very simple idea. The plan shows a rectangular platform in a large rectangular basin of water. A second platform and the tower lie at an angle to the basin, a turn to the north which enriches the structural relationships and the spaces in countless ways. The 45m long office block, 8 stories high, is made of 24 prefabricated containers, each 15m long by 3m high. Their external surface of perforated 6m sheets provided natural daylight inside and a suggestive external texture. The interior space was cooled by water running over the east-facing sails, which inside doubled as projection screens for an audio-visual display shown to visitors lying on their backs supported by cushions. This exciting and evocative pavilion has been bought by the Japanese, to be erected in a Denmark Park in the municipality of Tamba
