Title	Humble Administrator's Garden
Notes	Built 1513. Project Description: Also known as the Plain Man’s Politics Garden, this garden was built by Wang Xianchen who retired from the court to cultivate his garden after extorting enough money from a court official to build it. The garden, built during the Ming Dynasty, reflects the simplicity of the Ming artistic style. Bridges zigzag at right angles across ponds which cover three-fifths of the garden. At the center, two connecting island are covered with bamboo. Points of interest: Pavilion of Fragrant Snow and Azure Clouds, Pavilion of Expecting Frost, and the Small Flying-Rainbow Bridge. The Hall of Distant Fragrance overlooks the water to the south and is set amidst verandahs, towers and bridges. Project History: The Humble Administrator's Garden is one of only four nationally protected gardens in China. The garden was completely restored in 1953, but older portions can be distinguished by their more subtle lines and more detailed building decorations.
