Built 1979. Project Description: Arco Garden is located in a heavily urbanized part of Philadelphia. The park is surrounded by an ornate wrought-iron fence to protect the circular fountains, benches and planting areas. Arco Garden consists of two prominent doughnut-shaped planting beds with circular fountains at their centers. Pathways into the fountain area and benches permit visitors to rest and enjoy the fountains. The park is situated between the college on one side and a five story brick building on the other. On the wall of the brick building is a ceramic tile mural, also designed by Bayer. A grove of deciduous trees at one end of the park provides shade and protection during the summer. The circular beds are planted in ivy. Project Location: adjacent to the Philadelphia College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, PA. Sponsor/Developer: The Atlantic Richfield Company and the Philadelphia College of Art and Design
