Built 1986. Project Description: The artist designed this space in memory of Alene Dunlap Smith, who was a forceful proponent of historic preservation. The artist used indigenous materials. The entrance to the park consists of square stone columns with blue ceramic block capitols. A path of blue ceramic tiles takes the visitor into the park, where the path ends and surrounds a rock formation. Cactus plants, gravel and trees provide a desert-like feeling. The artist also designed ceramic block benches and stone walls, which provide both seating and protection to this intimate desert garden. Project Location: along North Main Avenue, Tucson, AZ
