The Thai Buddha acquired at this time follows the iconographic tradition of what are classed by some as "Regnal Buddhas" in which the image of the Buddha is in royal attire. Each Chakri king, except Rama VIII who died before his consecration, had his own regnal image. Ours shows the figure seated on a tiered dais or throne with right hand on right knee, and left hand on the lap. The Regnal images were usually gilded, gold-plated, or gold-leafed.
