Title	Ada McColl collecting cowchips for fuel.
Description	The woman is Ada McColl and the small child is Burt McColl, Ada's brother. The family had settled in Lakin, Kansas in 1886. In 1892, Ada became interested in photography, purchased a camera and received some instruction from a local photographer, H.L. Wolfe, who also printed her glass negatives. The photo was taken in 1893 when Ada and Polly McColl, her mother, were collecting chips for fuel. The two women took turns posing and taking the picture. Erma Pryor, Ada's daughter, later wrote of the event: 'I aksed my mother (Ada) why she had her mouth open in that picture of her and the wheelbarrow full of cowchips and she said she was telling her mother how to take the picture when the picture was taken.
