"In the Boston Museum collection before 1828 and identical except for small pattern details with one got by Lewis and Clark in 1804-6 Old label states was used by Shell Society of the Omaha. Peabody Museum number 53054. A specimen of the greatest rarity and importance which may well date back into the 1700s as such items were carefully preserved for ceremonial use.
