Collected at Rosebud Reservation by James Henry Garrett who was a teacher there in 1889, and probably for several years before and after. J.H. Garrett (c. 1865-1958) was the father of Marjorie Olmstead. In spite of its provenience it is stylistically Cheyenne. 1) the bar across the middle of the design field is typically Cheyenne; 2) the stepping of the triangles is Cheyenne; 3) the bar/hourglass motifs on the vertical seam covering panels are also found on Cheyenne style moccasins. [this contradicts my 1996 opinion - T Myers 10/2000] (stylistic identification confirms field data - T.Myers 5/96)
