Four
works
are
featured
:

'
Pyramids
',
1985
,
Judith
Simonian
. The
artist
developed
two
ceramic-tiled
stepped
pyramids
with an
underground
speaking
tube
connecting
the
two
elements
of this
artwork
.
(2)
'
Mini
Monuments
',
1986
,
Alexis
Smith
. The
artist
designed
a
terrazzo
bronze
artwork
inlaid
in a
sidewalk
. This
artwork
is
part
of a
larger
project
to
relight
existing
theater
and
hotel
signs
which
surround
the
park
and to
help
revitalize
the
area
.

Untitled
mural
',
1985

Bob
Zoell
. This
mural
is
located
on a
pedestrian
underpass
wall
and
consists
of
brightly
colored
shapes
.

Gate
',
1986

Fischer
. The
artist
designed
two
symbolic
gates
to the
park
.
Al
Nodal
,
Executive
Director
of the
Otis
Art
Institute
of
Parsons
School
of
Design
,
developed
a
program
designed
to
improve
the
decaying
MacArthur
Park
.
Through
a
national
competition
, a
number
of
artists
were
selected
to
develop
site-sensitive
artworks
in the
park
. The
extensive
involvement
of the
artists
with
surrounding
business
and
community
groups
produced
a
collection
of
artwork
which
speaks
to the
cultural
,
historic
and
environmental
characteristics
of the
MacArthur
Park
neighborhood
.
