Project
Description
: This
fountain
,
utilizing
one-of-a-kind
technology
,
contains
70
spray
jets
to
produce
a
mist
[of
water]
that
appears
to
hover
over
a
central
rock
area.
The
spray
is
designed
to
produce
rainbows.
The
spray
jets
are
regulated
by a
series
of
temperature
and
wind-speed
indicators.
The
fountain
operates
in the
winter
by
spraying
steam
at
180
degrees.
[The
steam]
is
not
operational
when
the
temperature
exceeds
40
degrees
, as the
steam
will not
condense
and will
dangerously
heat
the
spray
jets.
150
native
New
England
boulders
were
arranged
in a
60-foot
circular
area
surrounding
the
fountain.

(SIRIS)
entry
on
Tanner
Fountain
,
(sculpture)
states
that there are
seven
concentric
circles
of
stones
and the
spray
jets
are
recessed
in the
concrete
between
the
inner
three
rings
of
boulders.
