Notes	Located at the Richard Roudebush Medical Center, 1481 West 10th Street, Front of building, Indianapolis, IN. Sponsor/Developer: Veterans Administration Art and Architecture program, The National Endowment for the Arts. Project Description: The core of this cylindrical tower is made of large interlocking concrete sewer pipes. Spiraling rows of earth-colored tile portray a stylized running human figure ascending the tower. Cut-out window shapes invite the viewer to peer into the interior darkness, where a primitive black figure raises its ladder-like arms to the sky. Project History: This work was commissioned by the Veterans Administration Art and Architecture program, and administered with the cooperation of The National Endowment for the Arts. McGowin says, 'Basically it's about the human spirit - the same spirit that is exhibited by great athletes, great artists, and veterans.'
