: This
sculpture
consists
of an
empty
chair
decorated
with
laurel
wreath
,
stars
and
stripes
and
other
motifs
,
mounted
on
top
of a
red-granite
base
. The
stone
base
is
engraved
with a
ring
of
wild
boars
. A
bronze
Miriam-Webster
Dictionary
opened
to a
color
plate
rests
under
the
chair
.
Saunders
intends
the
naturally
bright
green
patina
of the
bronze
chair
,
coupled
with the
red
granite
foundation
stone
, to
emphasize
the
natural
colors
already
present
in the
park
.
