Notes	[Located at the Scripps Research Institute, on the east side, corner of John Jay Hopkins Dr. and General Atomics Court, La Jolla, CA. In 2001 it was moved from its' original site at the main entrance of the Scripps Research Institute to a less conspicuous location.] [Original Project Location: Scripps Research Institute, in front of the Green Hospital, 10666 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA.] Sponsor/Developer: Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. Project Description: [Originally] located at the main entrance to the Scripps Research Institute, this large-scale bronze sculpture engages the viewer with an imposing rough bronze shape that is reminiscent of physical and biological phenomena in the real world. The artist's intent was to create a physical object which can be understood or made significant in the viewer's imagination. It has a certain mystery and an infinite level of interpretations -- limited only by human imagination. Project History: The Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation created an art collection to be an enriching component of the architecture of the Clinic. It 'incorporates the spirit of creative development through the visual arts'. The Scripps collection includes many prominent and emerging artists from around the country and California.
