Description
:
[Originally]
located
at the
main
entrance
to the
Scripps
Research
Institute
, this
large-scale
bronze
sculpture
engages
the
viewer
with an
imposing
rough
bronze
shape
that
is
reminiscent
of
physical
and
biological
phenomena
in the
real
world
. The
artist's
intent
was to
create
a
physical
object
which
can
be
understood
or
made
significant
in the
viewer's
imagination
.
It
has a
certain
mystery
and an
infinite
level
of
interpretations
--
limited
only
by
human
imagination
.
Project
History
: The
Scripps
Clinic
and
Research
Foundation
created
an
art
collection
to be an
enriching
component
of the
architecture
of the
Clinic
.
It
'
incorporates
the
spirit
of
creative
development
through
the
visual
arts
'. The
Scripps
collection
includes
many
prominent
and
emerging
artists
from
around
the
country
and
California
